In Studentenwohnheimen können Sie sich für ein Einzelzimmer, aber auch für ein Doppelzimmer entscheiden, Mehrbettzimmer sind eher selten. Diese Option ist für selbständige Selbstversorger bestens geeignet, die keinen Familienanschluss wünschen und ihre Freiheit zu schätzen wissen. Als weitere Möglichkeiten werden zudem Hostels, Backpacker und andere Unterkünfte angeboten, die Sie bei Interesse bitte immer bei den entsprechenden Sprachschul-Anbietern erfragen sollten.
Um das ideale Kursangebot und die geeignete Sprachschule für Sie zu finden, ist es zuerst einmal wichtig, dass Sie wissen, was Sie genau suchen. Wollen Sie lediglich einige Stunden in der Woche Englisch lernen und in der restlichen Zeit den Kontinent geniessen, so sollten Sie sich einen Kurs aussuchen, der Sie lediglich drei Stunden einspannt. Meist gibt es neben Halbtagskursen vor allem Standard- und Intensivkurse mit einer unterschiedlichen Dauer. Bei einem Sprachaufenthalt in Australien können Sie je nach Sprachschule oftmals auch kombinierte Kurse wählen.
Was bietet sich in diesem Land besser an, als Tauchen, Segeln oder Surfen mit dem Erlernen von Englisch zu verbinden? Wollen Sie sich hingegen umfangreich mit dieser Sprache beschäftigen und streben ein Diplom an, etwa ein FCE oder CAE, so kann ein spezieller Diplomkurs für Sie sehr geeignet sein. Auch hier werden meist nicht mehr als 25 Stunden in der Woche Präsenzzeit erwartet, doch ist die Klassengrösse geringer und der Inhalt stark auf die bevorstehende Prüfung ausgerichtet.

For Swiss nationals who are resident in Switzerland and wish to travel to Australia, there are certain regulations that you must comply with. For a language study trip in Australia lasting up to 12 weeks, it is sufficient to apply for a tourist visa, the so-called "short stay visa". You can usually apply for this directly through the language school you are booking with. This is an electronic visa that does not involve a great deal of work. If you are thinking of staying in Australia for more than 12 weeks, you will need to apply for a student visa, a "long stay tourist visa". This entitles you to stay in Australia for up to six months. However, you should be aware that the processing of this application can take some time, often around two months. Be sure to factor this processing time into your planning.
