Head of HR: training, further education, schools, self-testing

There are three parts to the Higher Professional Examination (HFP) to become a qualified Head of Human Resources.

1) One case study (written, 120 minutes)

HR managers are employed in medium-sized companies at the top management level or in large companies with sub-divisional responsibility. They work in public administration and in private companies.

At least six years of professional experience are required for further training to become a qualified Head of Human Resources, of which either two years as qualified HR practice or four years in HR project or HR consulting functions for complex tasks. Or at least six years of professional experience, including two years in management across two hierarchical levels.

The extra-occupational further training to become a qualified Head of Human Resources takes around two to three semesters until the Higher Professional Examination (HFP).

The admission requirements for taking the higher professional examination are as follows:

• Federal certificate for HR specialists or another certificate (BP) with HR-related job descriptions.

And

• At least six years of professional experience, of which either two years as qualified HR practice or four years in HR project or HR consulting functions for complex tasks

Or

• Degree from a university, university of applied sciences, university of applied sciences or a federal higher professional examination (HFP)

And

• At least four years of professional experience, of which either two years as qualified HR practice or four years in HR project or HR consulting functions for complex tasks

Or

• Degree at tertiary level
• At least six years of professional experience, including two years in management across two hierarchical levels.
