How do I become a chef as a cook?
In order to become a chef, continuing education, further training and Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) as a qualified chef is required. However, this continuing education, further training requires the completion of a Federal Diploma of Higher Education as a head chef, chef in hospital, home and community catering or chef in gastronomy, as well as at least three years in a management or executive position after graduation. The first route to becoming a chef is therefore via a Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) based on your training, followed by an Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE).
