How much do I earn in the hospitality industry?

The National Collective Labor Agreement (L-GAV) regulates minimum wages in the hospitality industry and revises them regularly. You can therefore assume that you will be paid the following minimum wage after your training in gastronomy if you are over 18 and work full-time:
  • With a Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training (Federal VET Certificate) at least CHF 3707 per month
  • With a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma) at least CHF 4108 per month
  • With a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma) and 6 days of job-specific continuing education (Art. 19 L-GAV) min. 4208.- CHF per month
  • With a Federal Professional Examination (FPE)min. 4810.- CHF per month
  • Employees without an apprenticeship receive a minimum wage of CHF 3407 per month
  • Employees without an apprenticeship but with a Progresse qualification receive at least CHF 3607 per month.
  • Trainee wages are to be remunerated with at least CHF 2172 per month as part of a hospitality industry training course
  • Employees from reintegration and support programs as well as persons over the age of 18 who are enrolled full-time at a Swiss educational institution are subject to a separate regulation.
