Wie funktioniert die Progressive Muskel-Entspannung?
How does progressive muscle relaxation work?
Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) is a technique that aims to induce deep body relaxation by consciously tensing and relaxing different muscle groups. As well as having a positive effect on the muscles, this method also regulates breathing and blood pressure, improves awareness of the body and promotes a positive approach to stress. Individual muscle groups are tensed for five to ten seconds at a time. This is followed by 30 to 45 seconds of relaxation. This is repeated several times until you move on to the next muscle region. For example, the fists are clenched, the buttocks and abdominal wall are tensed, the shoulders are pulled up towards the ears or the toes are curled.
