A job as a medical masseur involves the following tasks:

Als Medizinischer Masseur mit eidg. Fachausweis haben Sie die Möglichkeit, sich in einer eigenen Praxis selbständig zu machen oder aber eine Anstellung in einer Therapiepraxis, einem Spital, einem Altenheim einem Rehabilitationszentrum, einer Klinik, einem Heilbad oder Kurszentrum zu erhalten. Auch bei Sportverbänden und -vereinen, ebenso wie in Wellnesszentren und Kurhotels können Sie einer beruflichen Tätigkeit nachgehen.

Die Weiterbildung zum Medizinischen Masseur / zur Medizinischen Masseurin kann in Teil- oder Vollzeit absolviert werden. Zwischen drei bis vier Jahre dauert dabei der Lehrgang in Teilzeit, etwa zwei Jahre in Vollzeit.

In order to be admitted to the final examination, all eight module qualifications or a certificate of equivalence must be presented, as well as at least one year of professional experience. In addition, candidates must have an EFZ or an equivalent or higher qualification and may not have an entry in the central criminal register that is incompatible with working as a medical masseur/medical masseuse.

Wer für die Abschlussprüfung der Berufsprüfung „Medizinischer Masseur“ zugelassen werden will, der muss bis zur Anmeldung an die Prüfung acht Modulabschlüsse oder Gleichwertigkeitsbescheinigungen vorweisen können. Die Module sind:

Nach bestandener Abschlussprüfung erlangen Absolventinnen und Absolventen den geschützten Titel: „Medizinischer Masseur mit eidgenössischem Fachausweis“ oder „Medizinische Masseurin mit eidgenössischem Fachausweis“.

The final examination for further training as a medical masseur with a federal certificate is divided into four examination parts, each of which can be subdivided into different items. Examination part A is a written, three-hour examination of factual and practical knowledge, which is weighted simply. Examination part B is a practical examination of massage and physical therapy forms, which lasts around four hours and is weighted twice. The third part of the examination (C) is an oral specialist discussion and case presentation lasting approximately one hour with a single weighting. All parts of the examination must have a grade of at least 4.0 in order to be considered passed.
