What exactly is service marketing?

Unlike conventional marketing, service marketing is not concerned with the marketing of tangible goods, such as cars, cream cheese or sneakers, but with the marketing of intangible goods in the service sector. Accordingly, the marketing mix also includes other areas that are referred to as the 3Ps, not the usual 4Ps. These are: Personnel, Process and Physical. The first deals with the people with whom the customer comes into contact and who have a significant influence on their satisfaction with the service. The second stands for the processes that are necessary for the provision of the service. And finally, physical describes the physical proof of the service, such as a policy or a reservation confirmation. Service marketing is often also referred to as service marketing and refers exclusively to those areas of marketing that differ from the marketing of material goods.
