Ist es auch möglich, eine Weiterbildung in der Gastronomie zu machen, in der ich meinen Lehrabschluss nachholen kann?
Is it also possible to do continuing education, further training in the catering industry where I can catch up on my apprenticeship?
There are several ways for adults without an apprenticeship qualification to obtain a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training in the catering or hotel industry. On the one hand, you can achieve this through adult education if you have been working in the industry for more than five years, and on the other hand through a validation procedure in which you are credited for educational achievements already completed and can acquire missing skills in special courses. In the case of catch-up training, you can be admitted directly to the final examination (qualification procedure, formerly the final apprenticeship examination) in this way. Shortened basic training is also possible, which can be shortened by one year if you receive an apprenticeship contract. And, of course, adults also have the option of regular basic training as an apprenticeship in the catering or hotel industry. With all options, you have the same career opportunities and continuing education, further training in the catering industry.
