A manager or leader should be able to do the following:

- Communicate goals
- Develop strategies for achieving goals
- Make decisions
- Set priorities
- Work and lead virtually
- Recognizing people's motives and abilities
- Dealing appropriately with otherness
- Sharing responsibility for work and corporate culture
- Develop networks
- Initiating and supporting change
- Recognizing and resolving conflicts
When a leader fulfills these leadership activities, leadership is effective. In short, leadership means guiding people and achieving goals. A manager must act differently in different situations.
