Auf welche Sprachen kann ich mich als Dolmetscher spezialisieren?

Which languages can I specialize in as an interpreter?

For all interpreter training courses, you choose a basic language (often also called an A language) and one to three foreign languages, depending on the course. If you are studying at a university in German-speaking Switzerland, you must choose at least two foreign languages, one of which must be English and the other, depending on the basic language, may be French, Spanish or Italian (if German is the basic language) or German (if Italian and French are the basic languages). If you study in other Swiss language areas, you will find different language combinations. In addition to these two foreign languages, you have the option of choosing another language for your third foreign language, which you should enquire about directly with the Universities. Outside the Universities you will find courses in interpreting in a wide range of language combinations, so that you do not necessarily have to concentrate on the most common languages with interpreting, but can work in this field with very good knowledge of all European, African or Asian languages, for example as an intercultural interpreter.
