What training courses are available to become an HR assistant (formerly HR assistant)? What are the admission requirements and what qualification is awarded?

The path to becoming an HR assistant involves a course of non-formal further education. It concludes with the school's own certificate (internal examination) and/or an HRSE certificate (external examination).
Please note: The HR assistant training with HRSE certificate is an additional qualification and is not a basic vocational training/apprenticeship. The HRSE certificate is located between basic vocational education and higher vocational education.

Admission requirements:

The admission requirements for a course to become an HR assistant (formerly HR assistant) with an internal qualification (school's own certificate) can be determined by the respective school itself and can therefore vary from school to school. The following points are often mentioned which must be fulfilled or are recommended for participation:

  • EFZ or EBA, high school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • 24 months with basic vocational training or 48 months without basic vocational training General professional and/or internship experience after first degree. Part-time positions are credited pro rata.
  • First basic commercial knowledge and office experience recommended
  • Initial experience in the areas of personnel administration, social insurance, payroll accounting and labor law desirable or sometimes required
  • Good to very good knowledge of written and spoken German (level B2-C1)

The following requirements apply for admission to the national HRSE certificate examination for HR assistants (formerly HR assistants) in accordance with the examination regulations:

  • Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ) or Federal Vocational Certificate (EBA), high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of general professional and/or internship experience after completion of initial training (part-time employment is credited pro rata)
  • If you have not completed basic vocational training or a high school diploma, you must have 4 years of general professional experience

Note: At least one year of civilian service or a period of military service are recognized as professional experience.
