Übernimmt die IV die Kosten einer Umschulung immer?
Does the IV always cover the costs of retraining?
If you are considering retraining for health reasons because you are only able to carry out your previous occupation to a limited extent or no longer at all, this can be financed by the IV, the disability insurance, provided you meet certain criteria that it specifies. These are
- that the retraining must be necessary due to disability
- you are able to carry out this activity in the long term after this program
- you choose an education that can be considered proportionate and does not provide you with a significantly better income than before your disability, i.e. the IV does not have to pay for a Bachelor's degree if you only have a Federal VET Diploma.
