How long does an apprenticeship in gastronomy last?
In the catering and hotel industry, you have the option of either opting for a two-year basic training course, i.e. an apprenticeship, which ends with a Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training (VET Certificate) or a three-year basic training course, which ends with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Certificate). Those who complete Federal VET Diploma training in accordance with Art. 32 (adult apprenticeship) can also complete the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET Diploma) in two years. However, different admission requirements apply here and you must be able to demonstrate at least five years of professional experience in the catering industry.
