Werden meine ausländischen Abschlüsse in der Schweiz anerkannt?

Will my foreign qualifications be recognized in Switzerland?

Not all foreign diplomas are recognized in Switzerland. In order to be recognized, your training must meet the following criteria:
  • The training must also exist in Switzerland and be regulated by federal law
  • Same duration or longer than Swiss training
  • Training must be practical and have taken place at a vocational school
  • Training must have been completed with a state-recognized examination
If you have completed training in an EU country, this will also be recognized in Switzerland. The State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation SERI can provide you with more detailed information and is responsible for the recognition procedure for foreign diplomas. For the recognition of Matura and university degrees, the CRUS - Rectors' Conference of the Swiss Universities and FITs can provide you with information at the Recognition Information Office. If you would like to complete initial and continuing education, further training in Switzerland and would like to have your professional qualifications from the healthcare sector recognized, please contact the Vocational Training / Recognition Department of the Swiss Red Cross (SRC). For recognition of diplomas in the field of education and social services, please contact the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Departments of Education (EKD).
