Admission to the Mechanical Engineering Technician UAS course is based on either a relevant vocational qualification with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate or a Baccalaureate as well as an internship or other professional experience in the vocational field, usually lasting one year. Technical vocational qualifications such as plant and apparatus engineer, automation engineer, car mechanic / automotive mechatronics engineer, automotive specialist, construction machinery mechanic, vehicle mechanic, casting technologist, casting molder, design engineer, plastics technologist, agricultural machinery mechanic, mechanical technician, production mechanic, micromechanic, micro-draughtsman, motor vehicle mechanic, millwright, polymechanic or technical model maker are regarded as relevant vocational qualifications. People with other apprenticeship qualifications and a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate must often also have professional experience in mechanical engineering / machine technology.
