The provisions on authorizationFederal Professional Examinationhowever, are officially regulated: For admission to the Federal Professional Examination "Energy Consultant for Buildings with Federal Diploma of Higher Education" you need:

  • Federal VET Diploma in the construction industry; after the Federal VET Diploma, you must have at least seven years of professional experience in building technology or building envelopes at the time of the examination, at least three of which must include management experience and/or customer advice

or

  • Federal VET Diploma in another industry; after the Federal VET Diploma, you must have at least ten years of professional experience in building technology or building envelopes at the time of the examination, including at least three years with management experience and/or customer advice

or

  • As a holder of a related higher vocational training qualification or university degree, you only need to demonstrate three years of professional experience in building technology or building envelopes, but no management or customer service experience.

and

  • the required module qualifications or certificates of equivalence
