What prior knowledge do I need to be able to work as a real estate valuer?
Determining the value of a property requires basic knowledge of the real estate industry and specialized training. Therefore, if you are interested in working as a real estate appraiser, it is important that you have a solid education. If you already work in the real estate industry and have sufficient professional experience (3 years with relevant education or 5 years without the required educational qualifications), you can attend a course that will lead you to become a real estate appraiser with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education. This Federal Professional Examination (FPE) was formerly known as the Real Estate Appraiser with Federal Diploma of Higher Education and provides graduates with specialist and management skills.
If you have no professional experience in the real estate industry, an industry association certificate may be the ideal entry-level qualification for you. This could be a certificate to become a valuation assistant or a real estate valuation clerk. You do not need to have any previous professional experience to be admitted to these courses. Some CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) courses also do not require any prior knowledge.
