The requirements for continuing education, further training in real estate valuation vary depending on the course and degree. For example, the certificate course in real estate valuation is open to anyone who is interested in real estate valuation and has a basic knowledge of financial mathematics. Federal Professional Examination and postgraduate courses such as Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) are subject to somewhat stricter admission requirements. The prerequisite for admission to the course to become a real estate valuer (FPE) is an upper-secondary level qualification, a qualification from a College of Higher Education, a federal certificate, a federal diploma or a university degree. At least three years of professional experience in the real estate industry, including at least two years in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein. Persons who do not have any of these qualifications must provide evidence of at least five years of professional experience in the real estate industry (two of which must be in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein).

The admission requirements for a CAS or DAS also require a degree at continuing education and training / tertiary level as well as at least two years of professional experience in the real estate industry. A university degree is required for an MAS. To a limited extent, however, interested parties without a higher professional education can also take part in these continuing education, further training courses (CAS, DAS), provided they have a vocational apprenticeship or high school diploma, are at least 30 years old and can prove that they have two years of qualified professional experience.
