What do I learn in a bank apprenticeship?

Depending on which training or continuing education, further training is being sought, different content is taught.

In the case of vocational education and training (VET) in the form of a commercial banking apprenticeship (Federal VET Diploma), for example, the following content is taught during the banking apprenticeship:

  • Banking and industry knowledge (e.g. structure and function of the Swiss banking system, business models of banks, supervisory authorities, sustainability and ethics in the banking business)
  • Customer advice and sales (including recognizing and analyzing customer needs, conducting conversations, the sales process, providing advice, dealing with complaints)
  • Specialist knowledge (e.g. national and international payment transactions, account types and account management, credit transactions, investment products, pension products, foreign exchange, currencies)
  • Business and society (including business administration and economics, OR, contract law, data protection, social insurance, taxes, civics, digitalization)
  • General education and communication
