In order to work as a private detective in a private detective agency, a license is required in some cantons. This license requirement applies to the cantons of Aargau, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Geneva, Jura, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Nidwalden, St. Gallen, Solothurn, Thurgau and Ticino and can be applied for at the police departments.
