An apprenticeship qualification in care is not mandatory for continuing education, further training. In addition to healthcare assistants specializing in care for the elderly or generalist care, healthcare professionals, DN I nurses and professionals with an equivalent qualification can also take part in the Federal Professional Examination (FPE) in long-term care and support. In addition to healthcare assistants, healthcare specialists (FaGe) or people with other qualifications from the social and healthcare sector can also take part in continuing education, further training to become a social care assistant with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education. Participants should have a Federal VET Diploma as a care specialist or an equivalent qualification for continuing education, further training as a specialist in the support of people with disabilities; no specific Federal VET Diploma is required for the CHE activation specialist.
