What does the CAS in Human Resources Law / Employment Law consist of?

The certificate course on personnel law at a University of Applied Sciences with a degree: CAS Labor Law often consists of the following content:

  • Introduction and basics (e.g. system of employment law in Switzerland, relationship between the Swiss Code of Obligations, employment law, CLAs, company regulations)
  • Individual employment contract (e.g. conclusion of contract, obligations of employees and employers, wages, working hours, overtime, vacations, probationary period, fixed term, part-time work)
  • Termination of employment relationships (e.g. dismissal and protection against dismissal, time limits, abusive dismissal, leave of absence, references, severance pay, blocking periods)
  • Collective labor law (e.g. trade unions and employers' associations)
  • Special employment law topics (e.g. maternity and paternity leave, bullying, discrimination, equality, home office, remote work, new forms of work)
