Returning to work: the chance to make a fresh start with the sum of your experience

Hardly anyone simply returns to work where they left it. Between leaving and returning to work is a period of life that brings with it new experiences and perhaps also new skills and different values - regardless of whether the time out was voluntary and enjoyable or involuntary and difficult. It is therefore worth preparing well for your return to work so that your new job is a good match for your new self.

Take the step back with a return to work

Returning to work - this career stage mainly affects women, whether after a maternity leave or another longer career break. Just a few months away from the world of work makes it difficult for many of those affected to get back into a new job. Unfortunately, it is often not possible to return to the old job. Women therefore need to think about how they want to shape their professional future while they are still pregnant. It is important to ensure in good time that there is no major disappointment after parental leave, but that it is possible to return to work. Of course, many men are also affected by the decision to return to work after a few months. This may be for reasons of parental leave or after a longer period of unemployment.

 

One option for re-entry is so-called outplacement. This instrument of career reorientation support for employees who have left the company is financed by the company. The aim of this type of re-entry is to help the employees concerned to find a new job in the market that matches their skills. This involves repositioning, but also support in finding a job or even becoming self-employed.

Returning to work as a housewife is not easy and reconciling a job with children is often very challenging. Protection against dismissal usually expires 16 weeks after the birth. Women who want to stay in work therefore have to hurry. However, if this is too quick for you, you can return to work a little later. However, there is no special treatment for mothers. On the contrary - wages and promotion prospects are usually lower when working part-time. In addition to economic considerations, variety, self-realization and affirmation usually play an important role for working mothers. In vielen Berufen ist ein beruflicher Wiedereinstieg jedoch weniger problematisch, etwa im Detailhandel, dem Gastgewerbe oder dem Bau.   • Solidarity from other employees, because no one is immune to serious illness or an accident
  • the confidence that you will find your way back to your old performance, even if you take a step backwards
  • Real sympathy instead of a lot of curious questions - the course of the disease is a private matter
  • the recognition that you have come through a difficult time
  • Accepting any changes that have taken place as a result of the illness

Obwohl beruflicher Wiedereinstieg häufig mit dem Wiedereinstieg von Müttern nach einer Elternzeit gleichgesetzt wird und sich viele Angebote auch tatsächlich an diese Zielgruppe richten, finden nicht nur Hausfrauen und Mütter professionelle Unterstützung. Gerade bei individuellen Coachings oder Beratungen spielen die Voraussetzungen und Hintergründe keine Rolle, da sie nicht an einem öffentlichen Seminar teilnehmen, bei dem alle Teilnehmer in etwa dieselben Voraussetzungen erfüllen müssen, sondern ausgehend von Ihrer derzeitigen Situation an einer Lösung um Umsetzung gearbeitet wird.
