There is good news for anyone wondering how to finance further training. Since 2018, there has been aSubject financing by the federal governmentfor a professional examination (federal certificate) and higher professional examination (federal diploma). The SERI federal grants (continuing education courses listed on theFederal registration list) are 50% of the training costs.

SERI Federal contributions for continuing education for professional examinations and higher professional examinations

This means that anyone who passes a federal examination for a Federal PET Diploma or Federal Diploma following the continuing education course will be reimbursed half of the continuing education costs thanks to the SERI federal contribution. This only includes directly paid course fees for preparatory courses for federal examinations, teaching materials and course documents - excluding examination fees and expenses for travel, meals and accommodation. The federal contribution for continuing education is paid regardless of whether the professional examination or higher professional examination is passed or not. For this purpose, participants in a federal examination (BP or HFP) must apply for federal reimbursement for continuing education. When applying to the federal government for a subsidy after completing the course and examination, confirmation of payment from the provider, invoices for the course costs paid and a certificate issued by the examination provider confirming that the federal examination has been passed must be submitted with the application to the federal government. Reimbursement through subject-oriented financing is made by the federal government directly to the graduate.

This "Federal contribution for continuing education" reclaim helps those interested in further education to finance their continuing education (maximum amount paid out is CHF 9,500 for the federal certificate and CHF 10,500 for the federal diploma). This makes it easier to finance second-level training. And by obtaining a Federal PET Diploma or a Federal Diploma, you ensure an important career step within the framework of continuing education in Switzerland, which at least makes subject financing financially easier. The Confederation promotes higher vocational education and training with SERI federal contributions.
