My name is Silvana Hengartner. I am almost 40 years old. I originally trained as a carpenter. I then attended a commercial college and other further training courses such as SIZ and "Marketing Assistant / Marketing and Sales Clerk". I currently work in the office of a large carpentry firm. I am responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable and marketing communication.
I completed the commercial school, the SIZ 2 and the "Marketing Assistant / Marketing and Sales Clerk" at the BZWU CET.
I completed the "Marketing Assistant / Marketing and Sales Clerk" course because I wanted to develop my career after my children started school. I can put the basic knowledge I learned to good use in my job.
Because I already know it from my time at trade school. It's also very convenient for me and easy to get to.
Thanks to the "Marketing Assistant / Marketing and Sales Clerk" course, I know what different processes there are in marketing communication. I have also gained a deeper insight into these communication processes. A lot of my job involves trial and error and learning from it. I was able to gain an understanding of a good approach to achieving goals through the course.
I liked the Marketing Communication subject the most because I can use it best in my day-to-day work.
For me, the biggest challenge during the "Marketing Assistant / Marketing and Sales Clerk" course was learning. The older you get, the more cumbersome you become. I first had to learn how learning works again. I had the feeling that I had to invest more time in it than before. Perhaps the demands on myself have simply increased over the years.
The "Marketing Assistant / Marketing and Sales Clerk" apprenticeship is a good way to get a taste of the marketing sector. I think the content of the training is rather too limited for a switch to marketing. Unless you do these activities in an SME in addition to other tasks. However, to really work in marketing in a larger company, I think you need more in-depth further training.
I particularly liked it in the marketing assistant course when the lecturer showed and explained things from his everyday working life. I always found such practical examples particularly exciting.
I would recommend further training to become a marketing and sales administrator (or marketing assistant) to people who have already gained two or three years of professional experience. Ideally, they should work in marketing and sales - this can also only be part of the job. Also those who would like to build up basic knowledge in these areas. In my opinion, it is less suitable for apprenticeship graduates without professional experience.
I had very different perceptions of the atmosphere during the marketing and sales administrator and marketing assistant training courses. For some it was very good and for others less so. However, this was more due to the personal environment of these participants or their type. I personally felt comfortable. I had the same experience with the lecturers: some were more relaxed and others more serious.
Since the training, I know more about what happens in marketing and how it can be used.
