Logistics encompasses all areas of activity and business that have to do with the flow of goods. This ranges from purchasing/procurement and production to order picking, sorting and packaging, transportation and distribution, storage and, finally, disposal and recycling of goods. While the term logistics tends to represent the view within a company, the modern term supply chain management describes the management of the entire supply and value chain across several companies.
If you want to work in the field of logistics, you can choose from many very different areas of responsibility. Logistics specialists, for example, take on commercial and administrative processing tasks in commercial and industrial companies. They can choose between tasks in procurement logistics, production logistics, warehouse logistics, distribution logistics and waste disposal logistics.
