Hypnosis training: Experience report by Ute Müller - I wanted to be able to pass on hypnotherapy to other people after my own initial positive experiences

Tell us about yourself and your professional career to date.

My name is Ute Müller. I studied communication design and have been working in the advertising industry as a graphic designer for over 30 years. I have been working with my small and fine advertising agency "Partitur GmbH" in Zurich for 12 years now. Privately and professionally, I am interested in topics such as psychology, philosophy and communication.

Which course did you complete at GTH Switzerland?

At the GTH Switzerland, I completed the training to become an "Autogenic Training GTH seminar leader" (original according to Schultz). This is also part of the depth psychology hypnosis training that I am currently doing at the GTH. I have been practicing autogenic training for around 30 years. I am therefore practiced - i.e. conditioned - in this method. This helped me a lot in my training to become an "Autogenic Training GTH seminar leader". But as I said, I'm still going on, because I'm doing the entire hypnosis training course to become a "Deep Psychological-Analytical Hypnotherapist GTH".

Why did you choose hypnotherapy?

The decision to undergo hypnotherapy was an unexpected one for me, as I hadn't been looking for it. In my private life, I take care of my personal development out of interest and try to work through issues that were not going so well in my life with the help of various therapies and methods. I have been looking at, attending and using various therapies and methods for around 15 years - including the H.I.T.T.® method. This experience convinced and impressed me so much that I felt the desire to make this experience and the method of hypnotherapy accessible to other people and to pass it on. The special thing about this therapy for me is the possibility of using this method to make direct contact and communicate with my subconscious. The censoring mind is pushed aside during hypnosis, I am "in pure consciousness" and can enter into communication with myself - without influence or suggestion from the therapist. This creates a deeper understanding of myself, which also has a positive effect on my behavior, health, etc. Through the H.I.T.T.® method as hypnotherapy, I was able to recognize, uncover and transform my fears and personal life problems.

Why did you choose this school? What convinced you?

I was looking for a training center where I could learn or study all the basics of psychology and physiology. Like a classic psychology course in "light", so to speak. Unfortunately, a proper degree course would no longer have been realistic for my age. However, this downer quickly turned into a positive when I found the GTH. A personal "admission interview" followed, which seemed very serious and thorough to me. I was able to recognize the dimensions of hypnotherapy training and I realized that this is not a "become a hypnosis coach in 7 days" school. I welcomed this very much.

Do you already use hypnosis professionally? How does the hypnosis course support you in your professional work?

I am currently in the middle of my hypnotherapy training. I am therefore not yet allowed to offer therapy. During the hypnosis course, work and development on my own personality (teaching analysis) already begins. This goes hand in hand and is an important part of hypnotherapy training. This already has a positive effect in everyday life and at work. However, it should be noted that working on your own personality requires courage, strength, openness and honesty towards yourself. It is not always easy to look inside your own "pot". But the journey is all the more worthwhile once you have stirred and tasted the soup.

What do you like best about hypnosis training?

What I like best about the hypnosis training is that the course materials are compact and provide a good density of information. The literature references give me the opportunity to get to grips with the topics I am very interested in. This form of school is like a second degree for me. I can immerse myself in the topics. The hypnotherapy training course materials give me clear orientation and guidance.

Are there also difficult and challenging moments in hypnosis training? How did you deal with them?

It was not always easy for me to "stand up" during practical exercises in the hypnosis training (i.e. in the training module to become an "Autogenic Training GTH seminar leader"), in which the other course participants were able to participate and were the observers. But in the end, it was the situations during the training that I learned the most from. I am now more familiar with this for my further hypnosis and hypnotherapy training.

Have your career opportunities changed as a result of the hypnosis training?

I am a passionate graphic designer. Advertising is sometimes "questionable", but there is a lot from my previous experience in the field of communication and design that I can now finally use positively as a future therapist in hypnotherapy. Both areas of graphics (communication design) and hypnotherapy have a connection - even if it doesn't seem so at first glance. I want to use my knowledge and experience in a positive way, for the benefit of people. I can well imagine practicing both professions at the beginning.

Which aspects of hypnotherapy have helped you the most?

I am currently still in training. So far, the following hypnotherapy learning content has helped me very well - both professionally and privately:

  • Formulaic intention formation, suggestions, differences between external and self-hypnosis
  • Possibilities and techniques of self-awareness
  • Group management techniques
  • Medical aspects of hypnotherapy
  • Basics of psychology
  • Basics of depth psychology
  • Brain psychology
  • Recognizing mental disorders
  • Developmental Psychology I

Is there a specific project, a success that you were able to achieve thanks to what you learned?

I notice that my behavior and my emotional life has changed in conflict situations and it is still changing. I also approach people more openly, i.e. I feel more confident and calmer as a result of hypnotherapy. I also no longer allow myself to be influenced so much from the outside, i.e. my inner doubts are calmer and my inner voice is more confident and trusting. To mention just a few of the positive changes brought about by hypnotherapy. A process has been set in motion that is good for me in everyday life and at work.

When did you enjoy your lessons the most?

I've always really enjoyed the hypnotherapy training and the autogenic training seminar leader training.

Who would you recommend hypnosis training to?

I would like to recommend the GTH to people who are looking for sound hypnosis training. People who first and foremost want to penetrate and learn the content - who have a genuine interest in the field of hypnotherapy and recognize its value. People who don't want to complete a hypnosis training course quickly because "hypnosis" is so "fancy".

Was there a key moment during the hypnosis therapist training?

When I realized that learning was easy and fun for me, that was a key moment for me during the autogenic training and hypnosis therapist training. And when my interest in learning was awakened and I decided to complete the basic medical training, that was a key moment for me. The hypnotherapy training at the GTH suits me.

What was the atmosphere like during the hypnosis training?

I am delighted that new, valuable contacts have been made during this hypnosis training course. And I would like to continue to cultivate these.

What did you like best about the GTH Switzerland school?

What I like best about the hypnotherapy training at the GTH Switzerland school is the interaction with people. The other participants bring in their own aspects and topics, which opens up new perspectives for me.

What have you personally gained from this training or further education?

I am happy and have gained a wealth of experience.

Have you grown personally on this course?

Yes, that's what hypnotherapy can do. And it continues. Personal growth has no beginning and no end. We have to take care of it ourselves and are responsible to ourselves. In my opinion, that is part of the meaning of our lives.
