Retail specialists work in specialist stores, department stores, discount stores or large-scale distributors. What they all have in common is that they all work in sales. But what they sell differs significantly. There are 28 different training sectors in the basic training program for retail specialists EFZ. These range from car parts logistics to electronics, flowers, kiosks, sporting goods, perfumery, textiles and pet supplies. In all sectors, retail specialists work partly "behind the scenes" and partly in front of customers. The different tasks as an EFZ retail specialist require different skills. For this reason, you have the option during your training to focus more on working at the front (= advice) or in the office (= management).
Retail specialists in the direction ofConsultingare mainly active on the sales floor. They ensure that the goods are attractively presented and are the first point of contact for customers. They advise and serve them, explore their wishes and ideas, make recommendations on suitable products and thus help them make purchasing decisions.
The EFZ retail specialist knows their product range and the characteristics and origin of their articles. If required, they can explain or demonstrate their correct use and give advice on storage, care and disposal. Finally, they handle payment. They know the prices, discounts, promotions, customer cards, etc. and can handle both cash and credit cards correctly.
Retail specialist EFZ or retail specialist EFZ in the direction ofManagementknows and looks after her or his product range and ensures that there are always enough goods available at the right time in the store and in the warehouse.
Retail specialists manage the warehouse and take care of all logistics. They order items, plan transportation, check incoming goods and record them in the data entry systems. They then determine the sales prices, label the items and transfer them to the warehouse.
