Zwischen welchen Sprachvarianten kann ich im Arabisch wählen?

Which language variants can I choose from in Arabic?

Arabic is spoken in many countries around the world and yet has its very own dialectics everywhere. In Saudi Arabia, for example, you may not be able to understand what an Algerian is saying, even though they both speak Arabic. High Arabic, also known as Fousha or Fous-ha, which is the language of the Koran and the language of international Arabic conferences, is considered the standard language. Aameya, which is spoken throughout the Middle East and is considered an everyday language, is also very common in Egypt.

There are different models for language courses abroad, just as there are for language courses here in Switzerland. In Arabic-speaking countries, for example, you can often choose between the standard course, intensive course and combination course models. These courses differ mainly in terms of intensity and focus. For example, if you only want to gain a brief insight into Arabic and be able to communicate orally, you can attend a standard course that focuses exclusively on conversation in Aameya.

If you want to build on your existing knowledge and concentrate on writing and reading Arabic script, you can take a fous-ha course. However, a combination of both is usually offered. With some providers, you can also book courses where you will also receive private lessons to intensify what you have learned.
