How do I become an artist?
An artist expresses his or her feelings, longings, world views, political attitudes, his or her whole self through art. You can throw three blobs of red paint on a canvas, perform Swan Lake with hand puppets or completely wrap every street lamp in Zurich in wrapping paper and call yourself an artist, because this term is not protected. However you express yourself artistically or would like to express yourself, whether with painting, photography, dance, singing, animation, literature, sculptures, street art, performances or the like, it doesn't matter as long as you create something new. Whether you subsequently receive recognition, admiration, prestige or even money for this work is a completely different matter. If you want to make this your profession, it is important that you first master the craft professionally and make contacts in the art scene, visit exhibitions, vernissages, trade fairs or other events, exhibit or present yourself and thus get into the media. This does not happen overnight, although such stories always try to convince you otherwise. It is almost always hard work, a sound education, networking and perseverance that ultimately lead to the goal of becoming an artist.
