How do I become an author?
If you enjoy writing texts and would like to try your hand at writing professionally or privately, there are many ways to hone your skills and refine your writing techniques. You can do this in courses on the one hand and in the form of degree courses on the other. Both options have their advantages and are suitable for different target groups. Certificate courses, for example, are short courses that often train you in specific topics, such as creative writing, captions, satire and columns, editing, radio trailers, news, etc. Such courses give you an insight into the work of a journalist and provide you with further training in precisely the area in which you currently have weaknesses or about which you would like to know more. However, more extensive training and degree courses are also very good options to give you a solid basic education as a writer, regardless of the genre of the medium. Courses can be taken either at schools of journalism or Universities of Applied Sciences, for example in literary writing. In the case of journalism schools, you should make sure that they are respected in the industry and have a good reputation.
