How long does continuing education, further training in the community take?
Continuing education, further training at Universities such as the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) or Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) are credited with ECTS, the European Credit Transfer Systems.
At least 10 ECTS credits are required for CAS, at least 30 ECTS credits for DAS and at least 60 ECTS credits for MAS.
One ECTS corresponds to around 25 - 30 working hours, which includes lectures, tutorials and examinations as well as self-study, practicals and exam preparation.
A CAS usually lasts up to two semesters, a DAS two to four semesters, and an MAS around four semesters or longer.
However, the duration can also vary, so that it is also possible in the community, as in the MAS Community Development, that the duration is between 3 and 8 years.
