How long does a general education course (ABU) for adults last?
Trainees in a wide range of professions must take part in general education classes (ABU) during their school-based training.
There are also corresponding ABU courses for adults who are completing their apprenticeship.
The course is divided into thematic modules, which can look like this, for example:
- Workplace, labor market, world of work
- Consumption and economy
- Society, state and politics in everyday life
- The individual as part of the family and society based on solidarity
- Culture and environment
- In-depth work
There are learning assessments and other performance assessments within the thematic learning units. The standardized individual examination prescribed by the framework curriculum takes place at the end.
Such an ABU course usually lasts one year.
