How is the MAS Historic Preservation and Conversion structured?
For the federally recognized title "Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Monument Conservation and Conversion", at least 15 modules must be attended, each of which has a duration of five attendance dates and takes place once a week. The MAS consists of five compulsory modules, at least six elective modules from the MAS program and four modules that can be chosen either from the MAS program or from the fields of architecture, urban planning and management. Compulsory modules are currently (2016): Basic Course in Ethics; Basic Course in Methods; Practical Heritage Conservation / Therapy; Practical Heritage Conservation / Use and Care; and Heritage Conservation or Appraisal. Elective modules from the MAS include: Historic Structures; Timber and Timber Construction; Building Research; Swiss Architecture before 1918; Stones and Mortar; Sustainable Building in Existing Contexts; Windows and Stained Glass; Garden Conservation and several others.
