Regardless of whether you want to learn English or French, language schools in Canada usually give you the option of choosing between different course models. You can usually choose between standard courses, intensive courses, diploma courses, special courses and combination courses. Standard and intensive language courses differ mainly in the number of lessons per day and week, and are therefore aimed either at people who would like to learn a little language or at those who would like to study a (new) language intensively. Diploma courses prepare you for recognized language diplomas such as the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) or the Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française (DELE) and are usually quite intensive in terms of the amount of learning. For almost all language courses, you can choose between different course options, usually between group courses, mini-groups and individual lessons. A combination of individual and group courses is also common. Furthermore, you will often find language courses in Canada that are combined with leisure activities, such as English and ice hockey, French and golf or English and water sports.
