Are foreign language skills a prerequisite for studying economics?
After completing their studies, economists often work in internationally active companies and organizations, so foreign language skills are essential, especially English. Although most modules are held in German, it can also happen that individual lectures or specialist literature are only available in English, so a solid knowledge of English is recommended right from the start of the course. If possible, students should therefore improve their English language skills before starting their studies or in the first semesters of their degree course in economics.
