What is the scope of a homeopath's training?
Training to become a homeopath can vary greatly in duration, depending on previous education and qualifications. For example, training at a College of Higher Education (CHE) lasts 4 ¼ years full-time or 6 ¼ years part-time with a total of 3600 teaching hours plus internships. Training in homeopathy with a certificate from the SVHA, which represents continuing education, further training for medical specialists, comprises at least 400 teaching hours and a course in classical homeopathy, which is structured according to the EMR, comprises at least 500 hours of specialist training. The Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) to become a federally certified naturopath specializing in homeopathy, including practical training, comprises around 2,300 hours spread over approximately 4 years.
