What opportunities are there for training and continuing, further training to become a hairdresser?
If you want to work as a hairdresser, you need a basic apprenticeship with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training. After this training, you can go on to take a Federal Diploma of Higher Education examination and then a Higher Professional Examination. A Federal Professional Examination to become a make-up artist is also possible after the basic training. Additional training with specializations, such as theater coiffeuse or make-up artist, is also an option for further professional development, as is attending courses and training in very specific subject areas, such as hair extensions, make-up, nail design or manicure.
