What options are there for training and further education to become a beautician?
There are various ways to train for this profession in Switzerland. On the one hand, you have the option of completing basic vocational training as a beautician with a federal certificate of competence. This apprenticeship lasts three years. The vocational training takes place in a beauty institute, while the school-based training takes place one day a week at a vocational college.
You can go on to register for a professional examination and then a higher professional examination in order to acquire the necessary knowledge to become self-employed, for example. It is also possible to take a professional examination to become a make-up artist. There are also a variety of courses and training programs that train you to become a beautician while working and focus on different areas, such as wellness, vitality or permanent make-up. These further training courses award you a certificate from the respective school.
