Which course variant should I choose?

Many German schools in Switzerland offer different types of courses. These differ mainly in the intensity with which you learn German and the size of the group. If you want to learn German quickly and are prepared to do this several days a week (often Monday to Friday for around 2 hours each time), an intensive German course is the best option. This type of course enables you to acquire a solid knowledge of German in a short period of time and to use it in smaller groups.

For all those who do not have the opportunity or the need to attend a German course every day, conventional standard courses are well suited. These can be attended in the form of group lessons with a maximum of 15 participants, as mini-groups with 3 to 6 participants or as semi-private lessons. This option is not available at all German schools and can vary depending on the school. For example, at some language schools semi-private means that you attend a course in pairs, while at other schools you have one part one-to-one tuition and the other part in a group or conversation course. Therefore, if you are interested, always clarify exactly how this type of course is defined.

One-to-one tuition is of course also possible, which is somewhat more expensive but promises you an extremely high level of effectiveness. Sometimes the focus of the course also plays a role, for example with diploma courses that prepare you for upcoming German exams, such as the Goethe certificates.

You have to decide for yourself which type of course is most convenient for you and meets your requirements. You may also be interested in special courses, for example for companies or young people, courses such as German for job seekers or Business German, which are offered by some German schools.
