What tasks do janitors perform?
During continuing education, further training in caretaking, participants acquire all the important skills required for daily and periodic work in residential buildings, public buildings, commercial buildings, hospitals, shopping centers, school facilities and sports facilities. This includes, for example, key management, carrying out cleaning work or coordinating the cleaning service, maintaining technical building systems, looking after green spaces and outdoor facilities, monitoring air conditioning, hot water, heating, water treatment and ventilation systems as well as waste disposal. The courses offered to become a janitor with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education also prepare you for the maintenance of machinery and equipment, as well as administrative tasks such as auditing, preparing work reports, obtaining quotations, placing repair orders, energy accounting, preparing annual budgets, taking over apartments and more.
