What is a classic body massage?
Massage is a mechanical, mostly manual influence on the skin, deeper tissues and muscles. The main purpose of massage is to restore and maintain the harmony of the body through the art of touch. Behind the classic massage is a concept of five different hand movements on the skin. It is mainly used to prevent and treat musculoskeletal disorders. Massage is one of the oldest treatment methods in the world. Today, classic massage is the most frequently used form of manual therapy. It is carried out by specially trained masseurs or physiotherapists. In classic body massage, a distinction is made between full body massage and partial massage. While the latter is limited to individual parts of the body, the full body massage covers several relevant parts of the body that are directly related to the complaints. A classic body massage is a direct massage with the hands. The masseur begins the massage with warm hands and some massage oil and first warms up the muscles. This and the subsequent kneading and rolling are usually perceived as rather pleasant. The subsequent frictions - pressing circles with the balls of the hands and fingertips - on the muscle, on the other hand, are often perceived as unpleasant but not painful. At the end of the classic body massage, the treated areas of the body are stroked with calm movements.
