The tasks in a midwife job are:
- Midwives/maternity nurses look after a woman throughout her pregnancy, during childbirth and in the puerperium.
- They inform and advise the parents-to-be and prepare them for the new situation.
- During the birth, you monitor the condition of the mother and child and assess the progress of the birth.
- In risk or emergency situations, they initiate the necessary emergency measures, request medical assistance and assist with medical interventions.
- After the birth, they look after the woman who has recently given birth and the newborn. They give instructions and tips on caring for and feeding the baby.
- The course of each woman's pregnancy, birth, puerperium and breastfeeding period is recorded in a protocol.
