What does a practice assistant do?
The work of a medical practice assistant (MPA) is very diverse and varied. MPAs relieve the doctor, assist them and carry out their instructions. They answer the telephone, make appointments, consult with the doctor and give patients information, they welcome patients in the doctor's surgery and accompany them to the treatment room. There you will carry out independent tasks such as applying dressings, taking blood samples, giving vaccinations, carrying out body weight and height checks, examining urine samples and blood samples, measuring blood pressure, carrying out skin, eye, respiratory and other tests, monitoring ECGs, operating X-ray equipment and carrying out laboratory tests.
