What do people with training in youth welfare do?
Child and youth welfare services come into play when families reach their limits and conflicts threaten to escalate. However, people with a youth welfare qualification are also active in youth and family support, working to increase child-friendliness, initiate projects and promote political change. Youth welfare is responsible for the supervision of facilities that care for minors during the day or at night and issues permits for such facilities. It coordinates and finances emergency accommodation for children and young people and regulates cooperation between homes, socio-educational family support workers, the canton, the foster family service and other institutions.
