What do I learn in a solar technician course?
Continuing education, further training as a solar technician generally covers the following topics:
- Basics of solar technology
- Photovoltaic systems (PV) (including structure and functionality, inverters, electricity storage, charge controllers, wiring and yield calculation, safety aspects during installation)
- Solar thermal systems (including hot water preparation & heating support, collector types and storage tank solutions, hydraulics & control technology)
- Planning (this includes, for example: site analysis & yield forecast, roof orientation, shading, inclination, standards, guidelines (e.g. SIA, VSE, ESTI))
- Assembly and installation
- Operation, maintenance & fault analysis
- Legal & economic aspects
