What is exam anxiety therapy?
If the test anxiety is so severe that it has disease characteristics, then it makes sense to diagnose and treat it in test anxiety therapy. There are many such therapies available. For example, relaxation techniques such as yoga, autogenic training or meditation, hypnosis or behavioral or psychotherapy.
These exam anxiety therapies have different treatment approaches. What they have in common is that the causes and background to exam anxiety are investigated under the professional guidance of a qualified specialist and individual help is sought.
In psychotherapy, for example, a targeted (confrontational) confrontation with anxiety takes place. For this purpose, appropriate methods are used to recognize the irrational cognition. Exam anxiety therapy often does not aim to eliminate anxiety completely, as it depends on many different and dynamic factors. Rather, an acceptable way of dealing with it is demonstrated and taught, which usually alleviates the symptoms and complaints and may well subside completely over time.
