A Master of Advanced Studies (MAS): The most popular and widespread continuing education, further training at Swiss Universities is the three- to four-semester postgraduate degree program that concludes with the Bologna-compliant title "Master of Advanced Studies" (MAS). An MAS is completed with a Master's thesis and comprises between 60 and 90 ECTS credits. The degree courses are designed to be taken part-time. There are fully modularized forms consisting of three to four independent parts (modules) that can be completed individually.

Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS): Part-time diploma courses are completed with a "Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS)". They comprise at least 30 ECTS credits and can either be independent degrees or modular components of an MAS degree program.

Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS): Part-time certificate courses comprise at least 10 ECTS credits and conclude with a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). CAS courses are often regarded as modules of MAS courses: Many MAS courses have a modular structure and consist of three to four CASs.
