If you are interested in having your Spanish language skills certified with a language diploma with a language course for beginners or advanced learners, you must first decide which one this should be. There are the diplomas of the Instituto Cervantes, the DELE, Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera, for levels B1, B2, C1 and C2, as well as the CEC, the Certificado de Español Comercial, the certificate of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, for level B1, the Certificado Basico de Español de los Negocios for level B2, Certificado Superior de Español de los Negocios for level C1 or Diploma de Español de los Negocios for C2. The telc Español for levels A1, A2, B1 and B2 is also a recognized certificate, as is the BULATS test.

The DELE diplomas usually take around 100 to 150 lessons to complete (DELE C2 takes considerably longer), which also includes the time you should spend on self-study outside of the Spanish course. Most diploma courses offered by language schools consist of around 60 lessons over a period of five months, for example. Intensive courses are also possible, which greatly shortens the preparation time.
