Spanisch für Anfänger oder Fortgeschrittene: Wie erfahre ich, welche Niveaustufe für mich richtig ist?

Spanish for beginners or advanced learners: How do I find out which level is right for me?

Each language school offers different language course models, which in turn are differentiated according to language level, so that there are offers for Spanish from beginner to advanced. These are standardized throughout Europe, so you will find the same six levels at every school. A distinction is made between A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Each level indicates a precisely defined level of knowledge and can be determined with the help of tests. You can take such language tests for Spanish at the language school where you would like to attend a "Spanish for beginners or advanced learners" language course, but also at many others, as they can usually be taken online. For language courses, your level is often determined on site in a placement test. If, despite everything, this proves not to be suitable for you, you can attend the next higher level or the previous one at any time. This ensures that participants in Spanish courses from beginner to advanced are neither over- nor under-challenged and attend the Spanish course in which they can learn the most. This is usually not the case with conventional language courses in Switzerland (apart from a few exceptions), so you should know exactly what level you belong to before you register. So always take a language test accurately and without any aids. When choosing a course, remember that the level information always refers to the level you will have reached at the end of the course, not the level you already have. If a language test shows that your knowledge of Spanish is at A2 level, choose a B1 course, i.e. the next level up.
